Helping the poor, the needy, the outsiders is the Christian thing to do… Despite what the Religious Right would want you to believe.

Not truthiness, just truth.

It is not illegal to seek asylum in the United States. We’re a great nation that people find so great they want to seek refuge in its borders.

We’re treating suffering people with contempt and treating them like animals.

Despite Donald Trump lying and saying this is a law that democrats can change… It’s not a law. It’s a policy Jeff Sessions said he’d enact months ago, and now he is.

Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions could stop this now. This moment. But they won’t because they lack the humanity to do so.

Can someone please remind Jeff Sessions that Jesus was a child refuge brought by his mother to a safer place?

“Certain magoi(“wise men”/astrologers) come from “the East” to Herod, the Roman client king of Judaea, looking to honor a new ruler they have determined by a “star,” and Jesus is identified as the one. All this is bad news to Herod, and Herod acts in a pre-emptive strike against the people of Bethlehem and its environs. He kills all boys under two years of age in an atrocity that is traditionally known as “the massacre of the innocents” (Matthew 2.16–18).

But Joseph has been warned beforehand in a dream of Herod’s intentions to kill little Jesus, and the family flees to Egypt. It is not until Herod is dead that Joseph and Mary dare return, and then they avoid Judaea: Joseph “was afraid to go there” (Matthew 2.22) because Herod’s son is in charge. Instead they find a new place of refuge, in Nazareth of Galilee, far from Bethlehem.

Jesus’ earliest years were then, according to the Gospel of Matthew, spent as a refugee in a foreign land, and then as a displaced person in a village a long way from his family’s original home.”

Not a lot. Shameful and will haunt us for a long time.

I’m absolutely horrified to think what is happening to them.

The bipartisan deal was made by three democrats and three republicans who all contributed to the bill.

“Due to the rescission of the Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, it is now more important than ever to support this community. The DACAmented and undocumented community are people in our families, friendship groups, and neighborhoods who came to America at a young age and have little to no recollection of their country of origin.

One tangible and concrete way to support the DACAmented community in this moment is by giving and providing financial assistance to cover the $495 DACA renewal fee.

The goal of this fundraiser is to raise $5,000 to cover renewal fees for 10 DACA recipients (regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, ability, sexual orientation, religion, or geographic location in the United States). The renewal deadline is October 5th, 2017 for DACA recipients whose benefits will expire by March 5, 2018.

100% of the money raised will go towards DACA recipients to cover their DACA renewal fee.”

We are a collective of individuals rooted in the South who are Hmong, Lao, Chinese, and Korean with backgrounds in community, grassroots organizing and higher education. We created this fund as one way to raise visibility and awareness of the Asian American/Pacific Islander DACAmented individuals.

Did you know that 1 in 7 Asian American immigrants is undocumented? The youcaring link also contains more info about undocumented AAPIs. Check it out!

We have just one week left to raise the second half of our goal! Donate if you can, but if not, please reblog and share the link!

Gonna keep reblogging lol. We have 6 DACAmented folks who reached out to us for renewal support, but only enough funds for 5!! Please donate if you can. Any lil bit will help. Gonna be reaching out to my favorite blogs to help boost in a bit.

If you can help at all to help people with legal fees so that they can stay, learn, and contribute to their country, please do.

If not, please give this a boost so others might see.
